Good morning Family!
How have you been? Drop me a note to let me know you are doing well.
Today I will share a story of a girl named Suzy.
Suzy was an woman who did well for herself. She had her own place, she had a good job, she even had a nice car. But one thing she noticed is she was all alone. You see the problem was Suzy often held grudges. If someone did something she didn't like, she would begin to harp on the bad things. For instance, if a friend didn't call for a while. She would get an attitude when they did speak then say " been a while STRANGER." With all seriousness Suzy was livid. How can this person can me a friend and not call me. The nerve!
This is just a small example of what people dont forgive. But take 2 minutes to think of and write down three people (or three things done) YOU have not forgiven in your life and why.
The Bible says in Colossians 3:13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
Can you imagine if God forgave like you did? Where would you be? Have you been good to Him? Are you a good friend?
Here are 3 steps to Forgiveness:
1. Ask yourself: Why am I mad?
Write out your feelings. What happened exactly, who was really at fault? Sometimes, it can all be a misunderstanding. Was it the other person or was it really you? Writing is proven therapy for dealing with feelings.
2. Explore the effects on your health
Understand that harping on the negative actually hurts you more than it hurts anyone else. Research says that the effects of not forgiving or having malice against someone else can cause YOU to have chronic illness, ulcers, mental disorders, etc. Is it really worth it?
3. Ask Yourself: WWJD?
Christian or not. Jesus was a great role model. He lived a great life. Everything was always taken care of and He did not have a worry in the world. He was always forgiving and praying for even his enemies with His last words. "Luke 23:34- Forgive them Father for they know not what they do."
I dare you to take that attitude for a month! An attitude of forgiveness. Forgiving EVERY Wrong doing. You can even start small with a week.
