Cellphones & quality time… Morning Tea with Inspire Many

Cellphones & quality time… Morning Tea with Inspire Many

Hello my name is Casandra and I’m addicted to my cellphone. Welcome Casandra!

Have you ever felt like this? Every time your phone beeps, chimes, or sings …RUN!!! Jumping over every hurdle, digging into the bottomless purse, or maybe its just ALWAYS in your hand…Hello?

Or has this happened to you? You are in the midst of dinner/ conversation/ event / CHURCH and the person with you decides to answer the phone or is always looking at it.

How does that make you feel?

I’ve been on both sides. GUILTY!

Little by little I have been working on my addiction. Putting it on silent when spending quality time. Checking it, but not as often. At least not during dinner or conversation.

You would have thought that my life would’ve ended on Christmas eve when it dropped in water…but guess what I’m alive! Im here! So proud of me..I have come a long way.  What would you do if your phone blew up today or you had to do without it for 3 days, would life end?

How much value do you put in your phone?

A wise woman once told me that when you decide to answer the phone during spending time with someone that you’ve placed more value in the person on the other end of the phone.

Think about it.  How are you treating those you love?  Do you value their time? How do you show it?

I remember a time, if someone called your Home phone (which is now like a four letter word), if they didn’t get you…guess what..they’d leave a message!  And when you were able and willing you would call back.  Imagine that. You owned your time.

So how is it…that now as soon as a text comes, fb message, tweet, call comes in…we feel guilty or get reprimanded for not responding in record time… microwave society. I want it and I want it now.

Im not telling you to cut people off or not respond. I’m just sharing a few thoughts on how time is spent. Studies show that Everytime a distraction comes in, it throws off productivity at least by 11 minutes to get back to your train of thought. So for those of us who may stay “connected” all day…does it really help your overall goal? Ijs.

Ok ok Im getting off my soap box and going to eat with the fam.

Much love and many Blessings,

Coach Cass.
